Manchester City planning to snatch Dante from United - Report

Bayern Munich defender Dante revealed this week he has received ‘interest’ from Manchester United but Manchester City are also showing an interest.

The 30-year-old Brazilian told reporters earlier this week that he was flattered by interest from the English champions

I'm thankful for the Manchester United interest, it will all be sorted out by the end of the month," he stated.

His contract with the Bundesliga champions runs until the summer of 2016 but with the World Cup in his homeland fast approaching he could well be looking to improve his opportunities by moving away from the Allianz Arena this month.

Manchester United boss David Moyes is expected to be active in the transfer market this month after a disappointing start to his debut season in charge at Old Trafford. The champions are expected to sign Juan Mata from Chelsea after submitting a £37 million bid for the Spanish playmaker that would represent a club record transfer fee if the deal goes ahead as planned.

However, the Red Devils could be set to miss out on a much-needed defensive addition as M.E.N reports that arch-rivals Manchester City are hot on the heels of the Bayern Munich centre back as Manuel Pellegrini looks to improve his side’s defensive record.

City are also linked with St Etienne youngster Kurt Zouma who is widely expected to join Chelsea this month instead, and Eliaquim Mangala of Porto a far more expensive option than either.

Turning their attentions to Dante may well be the better option given the Brazilian’s wealth of experience at club level and on the international stage and, what’s more, the Citizens could dent the hopes of David Moyes of securing a top four finish in the process.
