Young Liverpool full-back Jon Flanagan is in line to return to the Liverpool side after a hamstring injury.
Flanagan was last seen when he was substituted in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Cardiff City just before Christmas.
It could be a timely return for Liverpool with many injuries blighting their defence. Martin Kelly is still working on returning to full fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Jose Enrqiue is still at least a month away from returning following a knee injury and Glen Johnson has now been ruled out indefinitely with injury problems whilst the Reds also have their fair share of problems at centre half.
Resources are stretched at Liverpool, but Flanagan impressed for the Reds when he filled in at left-back in for a spell in November and December. Here are a few key statistics showing what he has done during his spell in the first team so far this season, before he picked up his injury.
With Liverpool's defence seemingly down to the bare bones as many figures try and recover from injury, it is a lot of pressure on the shoulder of the 21-year-old to put in some good performances in the coming weeks as the Reds enter a crucial period of the season.
Though not blessed for his height, he has shown he is a strong defender and tough to play against and he is a good reader of the game. He may be operating on the right in Johnson's absence, unless Brendan Rodgers thinks Martin Kelly is fit enough to play regularly, mean Aly Cissokho could lose his place in the team.
