A midfielder who underwent a trial at Arsenal in the summer has finally clinched a move from Angers to Lens.
When Alharbi El Jadeyaoui had a trial at Arsenal last summer, supporters wondered what quite was going on.
The Moroccan midfielder, just turned 27 at the time, was playing for Ligue 2 side Angers and had shown little to suggest through his career he was ready to step up to an elite club playing Champions League football.
Arsenal decided to pass up on El Jadeyaoui, spending a whopping £42.4 million to sign Mesut Ozil instead.
The Ligue 2 winger ended the transfer window as he started it, contracted to Ligue 2 side Angers.
So far this season he has played just seven league matches, providing two assists, but now finally he has clinched his dream move.
Not one to Arsenal, but a switch to Lens, giving him a better chance of promotion to a division he is yet to play in - Ligue 1, despite spending his entire career to date in France.
L'Equipe confirm that El Jadeyaoui has clinched a two-and-half-year deal to sign with Lens, where he will hopefully get the chance to show what he can do on a bigger stage.
Did the trial at Arsenal help? Well it can't have hurt his profile. Arsene Wenger clearly saw something in him to bring him over for a week in the summer, and he could go onto make one or two clubs regret not taking advantage of Wenger highlighting a rough diamond to the world.
