West Ham lead West Brom in Nocerino race

West Ham are favourites to sign AC Milan midfielder Antonio Nocerino, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

AC Milan midfielder Antonio Nocerino is believed to be a target for both West Ham and West Bromwich Albion.

The 28-year-old is reportedly unsettled at San Siro and is said to be available either on loan or as a permanent transfer.

Clarence Seedorf has just taken over the Milan bench and is expected to make sweeping changes to a squad that struggled badly under Massimiliano Allegri.

Italian international Nocerino has seen his career stall somewhat in recent months and is said to be keen to find a fresh start.

La Gazzetta insists that Milan transfer guru Adriano Galliani is already in talks with West Ham over the future of Nocerino.

It is also reported that there is interest from West Brom but that the Midlands outfit are yet to make a formal approach, giving the Hammers the head start.

Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande, coached by Italian hero Marcello Lippi, were also in the hunt for Nocerino but the player is keen to stay in Europe.

Nocerino is a Juventus youth product but spent much of his formative time with the Bianconeri being loaned out to other clubs.

He has played for Avellino, Genoa, Catanzaro, Crotone, Messina and Piacenza before getting his big break with Palermo in 2008. Nocerino joined Milan in 2011.
