Tottenham latest: Capoue update, Sherwood wants forward thinking Dembele

Etienne Capoue’s proposed transfer to Napoli seems to be rumbling on with the latest speculation suggesting that Goran Pandev could be a potential makeweight in any deal, according to reports in Italy.

Capoue’s agent Martha Fischer has said that Spurs were holding out for an ‘absurd’ transfer fee for the midfielder.

Any hope the club may have had of signing Jackson Martinez from Porto appear to have ended with the midfielder set to sign a new deal at Porto according to TalkSport.

Tottenham were linked along with Premier League rivals, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Tim Sherwood has said he is eager for midfielder Mousa Dembele further forward after paying tribute to the striker after he notched up 50 Premier League appearances for the club.

Sherwood told the Tottenham website: ‘Mousa’s a nightmare to play against because he can drop his shoulder and leave you on your backside!

‘We’re trying to get him further forward to play in and around the penalty area because he has the capability of creating and perhaps scoring more goals. We’re getting him into the areas to achieve it.’

Former Spurs man Osvaldo Ardiles has said he feels lucky to be alive after being involved in a car crash with former Spurs teammate in the Falkland Islands.

The Argentine pair were filming a documentary about their experiences of playing in England whilst the Falklands conflict was taking place in 1982.

Ardiles is quoted in the London Evening Standard, saying: ‘I thought at one point I was going to die.

‘When I began to lose control of the car I thought, ‘this is really very serious.’’
