Manchester United boss David Moyes has been given a boost as forwards Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney have returned to training for the Premier League champions.
United have missed the experience, quality and maturity of the pair in recent matches as United have endured four defeats in their last five games as they prepare to take on Sunderland in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final.
Rooney has been battling to return from a groin problem while Van Persie has been missing for a significant period of time with a thigh issue.
It’s unlikely that either will feature in this evening’s game against Sunderland at Old Trafford with the FA Cup fixtures this weekend providing the pair, and the rest of the United squad, with an opportunity to rest ahead of the Premier League game against Cardiff City next Tuesday.
It’s good to see them both back in action and United will be a much more dangerous unit when they’re both back playing regularly.
