Is Schmeichel headed to AC Milan?

It is being reported that AC Milan have shown an interest in Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, whose contract expires in the summer.

AC Milan are keen to find a long-term solution to their goalkeeper conundrum and Kasper Schmeichel could be the answer.

The Rossoneri are currently relying on Christian Abbiati who is 36 while Marco Amelia is out of favour and Brazilian Gabriel has failed to impress when given a chance.

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has been a reported target for some time but Milan have never managed to lure their man.

Sky Sports believes that Milan could turn to Schmeichel, who could be a cheaper option as he is out of contract at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old is unlikely to leave Leicester as they fight for a place in the Premier League but he could be swayed by the prestigious move in the summer.

Milan would also be likely to be able to offer Schmeichel a more lucrative contract than he'd be given at the King Power Stadium.

The No 1 jersey has been a problem for Milan for some time and while Abbiati can be excellent, he is often maligned for lapses in concentration.
