The Telegraph linked Wayne Rooney with a move away from Manchester United and the Premier League this morning with the La Liga giants said to be interested in a move for the England striker in the summer.
Rooney’s future has been the subject of much speculation since the end of last season – when it was reported that Rooney had handed in a transfer request.
Chelsea have been the side most linked with him but if Real’s reported interest were to transpire into a formal approach, then Rooney would be joining a side littered with top class attacking talent.
And one player who has been consistently linked with a move away from the Bernabeu is striker Karim Benzema – with Arsenal said to have been interested in him from the summer, and are reported. Chelsea, meanwhile, have also been linked.
There has been some doubt clouded over these reports but by signing Rooney, and with the constant links of the French striker away from Real, a Rooney purchase could possibly lead to Benzema heading closer to the exit door, with the striker potentially thinking his days are numbered.
And with it being reported that Benzema is close to the exit door in the first place, if such a deal were to be agreed, there may be a couple of clubs who will be in a stronger position to land the French star than first thought.
