'Free Guarin' Twitter campaign as Juve move falls through

Inter Milan

A Twitter campaign has been set up to demand Inter allow Fredy Guarin to leave after his move to Juventus fell through.

Fredy Guarin's transfer to Juventus was dramatically derailed at the eleventh hour, leaving the Colombian international in limbo.

The alleged Manchester United and Chelsea target was all set to leave Inter for Serie A rivals Juventus in a part exchange deal with Mirko Vucinic.

However, after protracted fan pressure from Inter's side, owner Erik Thohir didn't give his go-ahead and Guarin remains at the club.

But the midfield talent, who had set his heart on Turin, is now left in purgatory and hasn't yet returned to training.

Guarin faces the possibility of being unpopular with the Inter fans who feel he was ready to betray them and he will be looking for another club to step in.

A growing Twitter campaign has been launched mainly by Juventus fans under the hash tag 'FreeGuarin' with a logo picture of a pair of hands pushing through prison bars.

According to respected Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli are willing to save the day and make an offer for Guarin.

Di Marzio reports that Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has made initial contact with his Inter counterparts and that talks are set to begin today.

It remains to be seen whether Napoli have the necessary financial resources and whether Guarin is happy to move there.
