VIDEO: Messi’s role in Fabregas’ substitution outburst

The Argentina international made a rare wayward pass to Sergi Roberto, who was waiting to enter the field of play at the ex-Arsenal man’s expense.

Cesc Fabregas cut a forlorn figure as he was substituted in the 73rd minute of Barcelona’s frustrating 1-1 draw against Levante on Sunday night, leading to rumours of dissatisfaction at Barcelona.

However, the lead up to the ex-Arsenal man being replaced by Sergi Roberto shows an odd event.

With Barca talisman Lionel Messi on the ball, the Argentine plays a pass towards the waiting Roberto, which summed up the Blaugrana’s night.

Fabregas later admitted that he was annoyed at the Camp Nou side’s lack of ability to get a second goal rather than the fact he was being withdrawn from the action.

However, it may well be that Messi inaccuracy caused the frustration in the Spain international.

With Atletico Madrid also drawing in their weekend clash, Barca missed the chance to build a lead at the top of the La Liga table, with Real Madrid only a point behind the pair now.
