There are reports in Italy that Manchester United are prepared to table a mammoth bid for rising striking star Domenico Berardi.

Domenico Berardi is being tipped to be the next Alessandro Del Piero by many in Italy after his spectacular start to the season, which allegedly has attracted Manchester United's interest.

The 19-year-old has made history at his age with 11 goals already to his name at this stage of the season.

Juventus co-own Berardi along with Serie A minnows Sassuolo where he is currently plying his trade, making his scoring achievements even more impressive.

Any deal involving Berardi would have to be agreed by Juventus who are expected to bring the striking talent to Turin in the summer, although there have been suggestions that he would only be a back-up to Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.

Reports from Tuttomercatoweb suggest that Manchester United are waiting in the wings and could table a bid of around £19m to bring Berardi to Old Trafford.

The website insists that the Red Devils have already made contact with Sassuolo club president Giorgio Squinzi in the hope of setting a deal in motion.

Chelsea are also allegedly interested in Berardi as well as German side Werder Bremen, who Tuttomercatoweb believes would be unable to compete financially.

The problem for any potential suitor will be convincing Juventus to part with a player who could become the next great Italian striker.

Manchester United's former manager Sir Alex Ferguson was a fan of Berardi and reportedly wanted to sign him last season.
