A newspaper in Portugal claims Celtic are considering a bid for Benfica midfielder Filip Djuricic.

Reports in Portugal claim Celtic are considering a £6million offer for Benfica’s Serbian midfielder Filip Djuricic.

Newspaper A Bola states that the Scottish champions are keen on the player and could make the offer by the end of the month.

The 21-year-old’s main position is as an attacking midfielder, although he can also play on the left-wing or as a centre-forward.

He only moved to Benfica from Heerenveen last February in a five-year-deal; however, he has made little impact thus far, spending the majority of his time on the bench.

Djuricic has scored two goals and provided one assist to date, and Celtic reportedly believe that his lack of game-time in Portugal could lead to a successful transfer this month.

The player was also said to be admired by Sir Alex Ferguson, and even had a trial at Old Trafford. While his name may be familiar to some Celtic fans already; it was he who scored both Serbia’s goals in their 2-0 victory Scotland in the recent World Cup qualifiers.
