Étienne Capoue could be left in limbo as Napoli and Tottenham's negotiations over a transfer seem set for failure.
The French international has failed to settle at White Hart Lane since arriving last summer and the chance of a fresh start looked set to present itself when Napoli made their approach.
Spurs manager Tim Sherwood is aiming to streamline his squad and doesn't seem to see Capoue as first choice, but the player's valuation is causing problems.
After protracted negotiations, the two clubs haven't agreed on terms and Napoli may turn their attentions elsewhere having already signed Michel Bastos.
"Tottenham want too much money, what they are asking for is crazy. But it is still January 21st, so good luck to Napoli.
"I can't say any more but Napoli are a great team who were in the Champions League and are in the title race."
