West Bromwich Albion 1-1 Everton: Toffees miss chance to go above Liverpool

Everton and West Brom drew 1-1 at the Hawthorns.

West Brom came from behind to claim a draw at home to Champions League place chasing Everton on Monday Night Football.

Everton had taken a 1-0 lead shortly before half-time thanks to a low Kevin Mirallas effort, his third goal of the season.

With the match build-up overshadowed by West Brom's sponsors Zoopla hogging the headlines for making clear their intention not to renew their deal in light of the Nicolas Anelka-Quenelle incident, the Frenchman was handed a start by new manager Pepe Mel.

It was central defender Diego Lugano who rescued a point, ensuring the new West Brom boss did not get off to a losing start.

For Everton it was an opportunity to leapfrog rivals Liverpool into fourth missed, and they not sit in sixth on 42 points, five clear of seventh placed Manchester United.

West Brom move into 13th, level on points with Stoke and one behind Norwich and Hull.
