“I think if the goalkeeper goes to the ground like he did he has to get the ball but he does not - and instead collides with Suarez it is a penalty. It is not a dive, 100% not a dive,” Gallagher told Sky Sports.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan has claimed that the forward wasn’t sure if it was a penalty when the American confronted him over the incident.
“I asked [Suarez] - because I was pretty confident in myself I hadn't touched him - 'Did I touch you?' and he said 'I don't know'” revealed Guzan.
Liverpool defender Kolo Toure says the side are still Premier League title contenders despite a blip against Aston Villa over the weekend. Liverpool were 2-0 down before coming back to secure a point.
“We are still in that (title race) because every team can lose points. For us we just need to think about the next game 100 per cent, try to win and be positive,” said Toure.
In transfer news, Brendan Rodgers has reportedly been given the go ahead to launch an official £8 million bid to sign Mohamed Salah from FC Basel. The Reds have been linked with the winger for much of the month and a move seemed to be off the table due to interest from Russian side Zenit St Petersburg.
Liverpool continue to track the progress of 22-year-old Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Karl Darlow, according to the latest reports. The Nottingham post suggests Brendan Rodgers sees the Forest shot stopper as good back up and competition to Simon Mignolet in the first team squad.
The Liverpool Echo has reported that 20-year-old defender Tiago Ilori will join Spanish side Granada on loan until the end of the season. The centre back has failed to get any regular football since he moved to Anfield from Sporting Lisbon last summer.
In other news, Liverpool's under-21 side completed a 4-2 victory at Arsenal in the under-21 Premier League. Michael Ngoo scored twice with Brad Smith and Kristoffer Peterson also getting on the score sheet.
Liverpool legend John Barnes has revealed that the majority of Liverpool fans ‘probably hate’ Chelsea striker Fernando Torres. Torres originally moved to Chelsea from Liverpool in a deal worth £50 million.
“We are very excited about him (Suarez) now, but weren’t we excited about Fernando Torres? And now ask them (Liverpool fans) what they think about Torres now? They don’t like him, they probably hate him,” said Barnes in his 5-Times column.
Liverpool youngster Ryan McLaughlin impressed on his professional debut for loan side Barnsley over the weekend. The 19-year-old was given a rating of 8/10 by football league website The 72 as his current side won 2-0 against Blackpool.
