‘I do not care about offers’ - Another Manchester United blow from €16m midfield star

Lazio midfielder Hernanes looks like he wants to stay in Rome this month.

Manchester United have seen many a midfielder link come and go in the past few weeks - this weekend another one breached the surface.

Lazio midfielder Hernanes has been linked with a potential exit from the club in recent months - as contract renewal talks continue to hit the skids.

His current deal expires in less than 18 months - and the club do not want to see his value diminish as he runs down that deal.

In the summer it was rumoured they wanted €20 million for the player - but six months of age and nearer to his contract expiry has seen that reportedly drop to just €16 million.

Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan were both linked with his signature - as were Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

But United were said to have taken interest this weekend - and after their 3-1 humbling at the hands of rivals Chelsea today they will certainly be considering a move for Hernanes more than ever.

He had a much more productive Sunday than the United boys had today - scoring a 90th minute winner against Udinese in Serie A.

And after the game he was quizzed on the apparent links with a move away from Rome this month.

And he was absolutely clear in his feelings on the matter - telling Italian reporters:

“I do not care about offers. I concentrate on my work and don’t let rumours bother me. I just want to do my job and do it well.”

That certainly sounds like Hernanes is yet another name you can rub off the list of potential targets for the club in winter - Hernanes even seemed on the cusp of angry at more suggestions of an exit.

But he joins the list with Ander Herrera, Koke, Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara, Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan who are said to be staying or moving elsewhere in recent media.

At this rate, they’re going to run out of midfielders to be linked with.
