€40m Brazilian long-linked with Manchester United has his say

Reportedly a target for Manchester United, Lucas Moura has spoken out about his plans for the January transfer window .

When it comes to the rumour mill, Manchester United have some old favourites – those who find their names thrust into speculation and headlines more than most.

One such player is Brazilian Lucas Moura, who was strongly tipped for a move to Old Trafford prior to his switch to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2012.

But having failed to secure a regular starting berth with the French champions, and subsequently losing his place in his national side – at least temporarily – fresh reports suggested Lucas could still find his way to United; both, in a sense, needing each other.

His agent moved to quash suggestions of a January switch at the weekend, when he gave an interview to Globo Esporte in which he said his client had no intention of leaving France this month and they would assess things in the summer.

And now the player himself has had his say on the most recent rumours, speaking to Eurosport following PSG’s 5-0 win against Nantes on Sunday.

Lucas again started on the bench, although he came on early in the second half, and after the game he is quoted as saying, “In terms of my personal situation, my head is here (in Paris)”

I have never thought of an exit in this transfer window.”

So with both agent and player ruling out a move this month, United fans can quell any lingering excitement they may have had that the Brazilian was going to be a late but very necessary arrival.

But next summer, if Lucas’s situation at PSG looks like remaining the same, then David Moyes may be wise to make a move for the man who arrived in France for a reported €40million.
