Of all the strikers linked with Chelsea in recent times, Radamel Falcao's name appears to crop up more than any other.
The Colombian threw something of a curve-ball when he left Atletico Madrid for Monaco last summer, but reports continue to suggest he could still find his way to Stamford Bridge sooner rather than later.
With Monaco tipped to sign another Atletico player – Diego Costa – and having already bought Lacina Traore only to immediately send him on loan for the rest of the season, there was a belief fuelled by hope and speculation that Jose Mourinho may soon secure the world-class striker his side is missing.
In fact following the return of Nemanja Matic, it may be the only thing they are missing.
And now Falcao has had his say on the rumours, in an interview with Sky Sports Italia and published by Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
When asked of the reported interest from Chelsea, and whether he would like to play there under Mourinho, the striker is reported to have said, “I have never thought about it. At the moment, it does not seem possible, because we follow different paths and I have a five-year contract with Monaco.
“There has been much speculation about interest from several European clubs, but I do not think much of it.”
So that appears to be that, at least for now. But in football the only certainty is that nothing is certain.
