Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Southampton and Saint Etienne stars all feature.
Chelsea completed the big money signing of Nemanja Matic from Benfica this week and the West London giants continue to be linked with some of the best players from across Europe.
Chelsea stand a great chance of success on more than one front this season, which has prompted some big spending this month as the club look to give themselves an advantage. Here are the top five stars linked with signing for Chelsea this week.
1) Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid)
The latest reports suggest that Chelsea are going to land the first blow in the race for the £32 million rated striker. Reports suggest the Blues will make the first offer ahead of London rivals Arsenal.
2) Mario Balotelli (AC Milan)
This rumour seemed to be dead in the water but a Chelsea blog pointed out earlier this week that odds for Balotelli moving to Chelsea had shortened and an Italian football blog suggested the move was still possible.
3) Fredy Guarin (Inter Milan)
Inter Milan admitted earlier this week that the focus of box-to-box midfielder Fredy Guarin had been affected by attention towards him from abroad. They have said he’s likely to leave the club this month and the Blues have been linked with a possible £14 million deal for the 27-year-old.
4) Luke Shaw (Southampton)
The departure of Nicola Cortese at Southampton prompted the potential idea that several players could follow him, with reports suggesting Chelsea would be one of the first clubs to go after £20 million teenage left-back Luke Shaw.
However, Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino says no one will be leaving his squad this month.
5) Kurt Zouma (Saint Etienne)
The 19-year-old defender has been linked with several English clubs but he’s spoken of his admiration for and talks with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
“If you tell me to go to Chelsea, I’ll go there immediately! Especially after the call from the coach. It’s given me ideas,” he told L’Equipe.
