Move over Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United stars, popular football magazine twentyfour7 has launched its final edition ever and it’s a surprise to see Manchester City’s James Milner on the front cover.
So many magazines, newspapers and publications of the past have used their final front cover as an excuse to whip out some of their best pictures and artwork of the past but this magazine has stayed true to its roots with an insightful interview leading the last ever publication.
City’s midfield man doesn’t exactly have the best reputation in England when it comes to exciting football personalities but he’s been consistent over the Christmas and New Year period, capped off by being made captain for the FA Cup replay clash against Blackburn Rovers earlier this week.
There are stars from at big sides all over the Premier League who would have made apparently more exciting front covers and interviews but this is a football magazine aimed at covering in form players in a professional manner.
The internet seems to be the reason for this magazine publication coming to a close, with football news, stories, videos, interviews and much more available with a few clicks of a mouse and at no cost.
The closure of the mag itself is causing more of a stir than Milner being on the front cover.
I'm gutted that @twentyfour7 is closing, it was a quality football magazine!— Daniel Lovelady (@Dan_Lovelady) January 16, 2014
