Newcastle United Transfer Latest: Swap deal could land De Jong, Monaco linked with Championship target

A round up of the latest transfer stories about Newcastle United.

Newcastle have been linked with a move for teenage centre back Kurt Zouma this week. The Saint Etienne star is being heavily linked with a move to Chelsea but reports have suggested that Newcastle could make a big money offer to try and steal him away.

However, a report on a Newcastle blog today has suggested the club have given up on Zouma as well as Blackpool star Tom Ince. Zouma has revealed his interest in joining Chelsea while Monaco have emerged as surprise favourites to sign the Championship star.

Newcastle United are set to sign Luuk De Jong from Borussia Monchengladbach with current striker Papiss Cisse heading the other way. A report has suggested that Newcastle’s director of football Joe Kinnear is due to travel to Germany over talks to conclude the deal.

The Telegraph has suggested Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis has been thwarted in attempts to sign Newcastle defender Steven Taylor. Taylor enjoys a contract at Newcastle worth £45,000 per week, which means Palace have little chance of being able to match that deal.

Newcastle have ruled out a move for La Liga star Juan Cala. Reports from Spain have suggested that the North East club are interested in the 24-year-old but a report in the Chronicle has suggested that’s not the case.

Newcastle have reportedly made an offer for Nottingham forest star Jamaal Lascelles. Arsenal have also apparently made an offer of around £3 million, with the Daily Mail reporting that the offer submitted by Alan Pardew’s club is bigger in terms of value.
