Liverpool transfer news, £3m tag for Forest youngster, quiet window expected

Some of the latest transfer news and more from Liverpool Football Club this Friday morning

Liverpool will have to pay at least £3m if they want to land Nottingham Forest youngster Jamaal Lascelles.

The defender is a target for several Premier League clubs according to, and a deal could only be struck if he was loaned back to Forest until the end of this season.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers told his press conference yesterday that he believes this transfer window will be a quiet one.

He said: ‘I just think it will be a difficult market to improve on but it certainly won’t be for a lack of trying. We are assessing a whole raft of players, it is just a question of whether they are going to be available to bring in now.’

The Liverpool boss hinted there is no rush to loan out Jordon Ibe just yet but has said he will consider it if the 18-year-old needs game time.

‘At some point we will have to get him regular game time in order for him to push on. At this moment in time, he’s on the bench and has got possibilities to play.

‘He has shown every day in training that he’s at a really good level. But there will come a point where, if he’s not playing here regularly, he’ll need to get some game time because I think he can be a great player for us in the future.’

Rodgers has told the Liverpool Echo that principal owner John W Henry was a major factor in him arriving at the club in July 2012.

The Liverpool owners are expected to be in attendance for tomorrow evening’s match at Anfield against Aston Villa.

The Liverpool boss said: ‘I felt they understood exactly where the club was at and they understood it was going to take a bit of time to implement the complex ideas which I wanted to do.

‘Both of our visions were aligned and I had the task of bringing those processes together.’
