A round up of the latest transfer stories about Everton.
Everton are closing on a new long-term deal for left-back Leighton Baines. Baines is routinely linked with moves away from the club but the latest reports suggest he’s close to signing a new big deal which will keep him at the club.
Everton are reportedly monitoring the situation of Genoa youngster Marco Soprano. The 17-year-old is rated as one of the best defensive talents in Italy and Sky Italia has reported Everton as one of the sides thought to be paying close attention to his developing career.
Everton’s planned move for Standard Liege star Michy Batshuayi is under threat from Portuguese side Benfica. The Mirror has reported that Benfica are keen on the £7 million rated striker as a replacement for Rodrigo Moreno, which could prompt the Toffees into making a bid.
Another striker target Everton remain linked with is Stoke City forward Kenwyne Jones. News broke earlier this week that the Toffees could sign the big target man for as little as £1 million as they look to strengthen their attacking unit for the second half of the season.
TalkSport has reported AS Roma as ready to renew their interest in signing defender John Heitinga. The 30-year-old Dutchman has made just one appearance in the Premier League for the club this season and Everton may be forced to sell this month or he could walk away for free in the summer.
Hull City have completed a deal for now former Everton striker Nikica Jelavic. The Croatian left Goodison Park in a deal worth £6.5 million. The deal is reportedly worth an extra £1 million if the Tigers manage to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.
