All the latest news and views from Stamford Bridge including the absence of Manchester United's strike duo on Super Sunday.
Chelsea's next significant transfer deal in the mid-season market is 'close' to completion, according to manager Jose Mourinho as, just days after landing Nemanja Matic - the biggest mover thus far in the current transfer window - the Blues could offset the vast majority of the £21m spent on the Serbian midfielder with the sale of unwanted attacker Kevin de Bruyne, who could feasibly fetch as much as £17m.
'Kevin is more than probably leaving, it's close,' the Blues boss is quoted by talkSPORT to have said earlier today, Friday.
One player who did leave Stamford Bridge today, albeit on a temporary basis, is defender Ryan Bertrand, who has joined Aston Villa on loan: 'He's a good player, our player and he has to play (regularly). For Ryan we felt, and he agrees totally, that he needs to play,' said The Special One.
Elsewhere, Chelsea received an injury boost heading into their Super Sunday showdown with visiting Manchester United, not from their own roster, but from United's, as both Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie have been ruled out of contending for a place in David Moyes' selection.
On Rooney, the Scotsman is quoted by ESPN to have said: 'Wayne's come back, he's fresh but he's not ready for Chelsea,' while van Persie is yet to return to training: 'I'm hoping Robin has a good chance of training at the start of next week, so if I can get him back out on the grass and back with us, it'll be a great boost for us all.'
Chelsea's provisional squad for the match is as follows - not the inclusion of Matic: Cech, Cole, Luiz, Essien, Ramires, Torres, Mata, Oscar, Mikel, Lampard, Schurrle, De Bruyne, Hazard, Ba, Willian, Schwarzer, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Eto'o, Blackman.
And finally, here is some Chelsea toilet paper which has appeared for sale - unofficially - in Uzbekistan. (Sounds like a bum deal to me)!
