Transfer talk: Featuring Long, Lucas Moura and Zouma

Kurt Zouma

Transfer news from Manchester United, Hull City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City.

Shane Long’s long protracted move to Hull City seems to be on the brink of completion. The Tigers first made a move for the player in the summer but it fell through at the last minute. But it seems Steve Bruce will now get his man.

West Brom were reluctant to accept any deal until a new permanent managerial appointment was made at the club, and the recent arrival of Pepe Mel has seen to that.

With his contract expiring in 18 months and Long refusing to sign a new deal it was ‘in the clubs best interests’ to accept the offer according to Baggies sporting director Richard Garlick.

The fee for the player is believed to be around the £6 million mark and will Hull’s second striker signing of the window following the arrival of Nikica Jelavic yesterday.

Chelsea target Kurt Zouma, also reportedly on Manchester United’s wish-list, has spoken of his recent contact with Chelsea.

The French starlet, currently with Saint-Etienne, told L’Equipe:

“A phone call from Mourinho? It is true, there was contact a month ago. If I was told to join Chelsea, I would go immediately.”

Manchester United are said to be back in the running for Brazilian star Lucas Moura. The attacking midfielder is currently struggling to hold down a regular first-team place at Paris Saint-Germain - for whom he rejected United in 2012 for a £37 million move to the French capital.

Tottenham Hotspur will not let Lewis Holtby return to Schalke 04 - as they fear it could hand Julian Draxler to rivals Arsenal.

Arsenal were heavily linked with Draxler yesterday - and Daniel Levy does not want a repeat of the transfer wrangling’s that saw Mesut Ozil arrive at The Emirates after Gareth Bale went to Madrid.

Cardiff City summer signing John Brayford looks set to leave the club on loan. He only arrived from Derby County in the summer - but has been pegged to the subs bench by fellow recruit Kevin Theophile-Catherine.

Bournemouth are said to be the favourites for his signature.
