Arsenal new favourites for THREE stars: Aston Villa striker included

Benteke Scores Past Brad Guzan

With 15 days left of the transfer window, we take a look at the players SkyBet are backing the Gunners to sign before deadline day.

Prior to the January transfer window, we ran a list of the players that SkyBet had tipped the Gunners favourites to snap up in the following month and what odds they had been given.

Arsenal were expected to be one of the busiest Premier League sides prior to the window opening and were named the favourites for six different players.

See the previous list below:

3/1 - Julian Draxler
4/1 - Demba Ba
5/1 - Edison Cavani
5/1 - Ilkay Gundogan
6/1 - Lars Bender
8/1 - Karim Benzema

16 days on from the January transfer window opening and the only player in, or out at the Emirates is highly-rated youngster Chuba Akpom, having joined Brentford on a 1-month loan deal.

Arsene Wenger has always gone through thorough investigation before spending big money on players and is well-known for his detest of the January transfer window, claiming five days ago, it's a ''distraction''.

Despite that, he does seem keen to bring players in and is reportedly working hard behind the scenes to get it done. Bookmakers SkyBet have introduced three new names into the fold of potential buys this January, having updated their previous list.

See the updated list below:

11/10 - Julian Draxler
11/10 - Dimitar Berbatov
2/1 - Karim Benzema
2/1 - Demba Ba
11/4 - Diego Costa
3/1 - Christian Benteke
5/1 - Edison Cavani
6/1 - Lars Bender

Clearly backing Arsenal to do some serious business in the back end of the transfer market, SkyBet look almost positive that a striker will be brought in, as six of the eight players favoured to be joining Arsenal are all front men.

The three new names on the list are also strikers, having included Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov, Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa and Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke.

Diego Costa being favoured with a move to The Emirates will be no shock to anybody. However, being named as the 4th most likely striker to join Arsenal this winter is. Along with Draxler, the Brazilian has been perhaps the most linked player to the club and has even been rumoured to be the subject of a £32m bid.

Benteke has been linked to every top English clubs in the past 12-months but prior to the transfer window actually opening, Chelsea were the favourites for the Belgians signature at 11/2. So that could suggest that some movement has been made for the bookies to cut the odds so significantly.

And, finally the third new name on the list is former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov. He has been mentioned a few times as the 'back-up' option for Arsenal and the bookies are clearly taking no chances, giving him odds of just 11/10 for a move this month. Relatively speaking, SkyBet are offering much longer odds on Sunderland to beat Southampton at home - which shows they believe a deal is very possible.

Despite having the three new names on the list, one has been taken away, and that is German International Ilkay Gundogan, who was once priced at 5/1 to join the Gunners. Now the bookies have him odds-on to join David Moyes at Manchester United at some point this month.
