Could Mourinho to use the connection that helped him land Matic in the race for Diego Costa?
Wenger's men may be sitting pretty at the top of the league, but when it comes to a potential Diego Costa transfer, it seems that Chelsea may just have an edge due to a mutual affiliation.
It's well documented that Nemanja Matic and Jose Mourinho share the same agent and it's thought to be one of the key reasons that negotiations went smoothly and the transfer was done within days of a bid being accepted.
But what's less commonly known, is that Mourinho and Matic's agent is also Diego Costa's agent.
Jorge Mendes is one of the most widely regarded agents in the business and has a long list of superstar clientele, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Angel Di Maria, Falcao and Fabio Coentrao.
The Matic transfer wasn't the first deal the two had done together either. History shows they have used their mutual connection to mastermind some of Mourinho's most extravagant transfers, including the likes of Angel Di Maria for €25m plus €11m incentives, Fabio Coentrao for €30m and Ricardo Carvalho for €30m.
Costa is a striker who has scored an impressive 27 goals in 25 appearances, and Mourinho would be mad not to try his best to sign the player. It is impossible to believe the name has not yet cropped up in discussion.
