A round up of the latest news and transfer stories connected to Liverpool from the past 24 hours.
Striker Fabio Borini has hinted that his long term future is with Liverpool. The forward is currently on loan at Sunderland and is due to return to Anfield at the end of the current campaign.
“I'll finish my season here and then after that I'll go back to Liverpool because that's my contract,” the Italian told the Daily Star.
Liverpool star Raheem Sterling claims he’s getting ‘into the zone’ at the club. Sterling has been one of the side’s best players in recent weeks, which makes recent rumours about a loan move away from Anfield astonishing.
“I'm just working hard and trying to do the best that I can. I feel really confident now and feel as if I'm getting into my zone,” he told the club website.
Aly Cissokho has revealed his performance against Stoke City has given him the belief to be more aggressive. Cissokho admits he hasn’t tried to claim his apparent goal against Stoke but admits he’s feeling more confident in terms of getting forward as a goal threat.
In transfer news, long term Liverpool target Jeremy Menez says he will not leave French giants Paris Saint-Germain this month. Liverpool have been constantly linked with a swoop for the French international.
“I didn't talk with anyone about a winter departure because it was out of the question to leave,” he’s quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
Napoli star Gokhan Inler says he is unaware of reported interest to sign him from Liverpool. The 29-year-old has been suggested as a midfield reinforcement for the club but he knows nothing of the Liverpool rumours.
“I do not read the news. Napoli is important to me and I will always give my best for this shirt,” he told TMW.
Sticking with Napoli, the Italian side look set to beat Liverpool to the signing of Hellas Verona star Jorginho. Sky Italia has reported that the Serie A giants sent their sporting director Riccardo Bigon to Milan for talks with the player’s agent.
Liverpool are reportedly monitoring the situation of FC Porto star Fernando. The Daily Express has reported that the club have sent scouts to watch the Brazilian with the 26-year-old showing no sign of signing a new deal with his current club, which means he would be available as a free agent in the summer.
In other news, Liverpool star Lucas has explained a picture of himself with Manchester United and Manchester City players. The Brazilian invited players from both clubs to celebrate his 27th birthday but says he was unsure over whether to publish the picture.
“It was a bit of a decision between us whether to put the picture out because there were players from rival clubs together but I said we should - The friendship of these players is something that I really value. There is always a lot of respect between us,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
