A round up of the latest news from the Chelsea academy and youth teams.
Nathaniel Chalobah has seen his loan deal ended by Championship side Nottingham Forest. The 18-year-old returns to Chelsea where he’s been tipped by Jose Mourinho to have a very big future at the club.
“He's a very, very good player and I like him very, very much. I am very impressed. For sure he is a Chelsea player,” said Mourinho.
Teenage right-back Wallace is also on the verge of a return to Chelsea from Serie A giants Inter Milan. The 19-year-old has made just four appearances for the Italian giants so far this season. It’s unclear at the moment whether Chelsea will loan him out to another team or give him playing time with the under-21s.
In terms of new players coming in at Chelsea, the Blues have once again been linked with Croatian youngster Tonci Mujan. The 18-year-old striker and left winger has been linked with a move from Hadjuk Split to link up with the Chelsea Academy system.
Chelsea under-21 captain Nathan Ake is reportedly being watched by Championship clubs Leicester City and Ipswich Town. The 18-year-old centre back has made 20 appearances in youth team football this season and could join either on loan over the second half of the season.
Chelsea progressed to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup with a win against Sheffield Wednesday earlier this week. Goals from Izzy Brown, Charly Musonda, Charlie Colkett and Dominic Solanke was enough to secure a 4-1 win and setup a game against either Cardiff City or Oxford United.
Solanke was also on the score sheet in the recent Academy League win against Norwich City. The youngster bagged both goals in a 2-1 win as the Blues consolidated in behind local rivals Fulham at the top of the table.
