Sporting Lisbon’s 19-year-old left winger Carlos Mane, linked to Manchester United and Celtic came off the left wing to score a curling shot into the far top right hand corner.
Carlos Mane is another product of the famed Sporting Lisbon academy which has produced Manchester United winger Nani and current world player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo
The 19-year-old, who can operate on either wing, had previously spent the past 18 months playing for the Sporting reserve side, occasionally filling the match day squad for the first team when numbers were short.
The young Portuguese star gathered his first minutes for the first team on October 5th 2013, coming off the bench in the last few minutes during Sporting’s crushing 4-0 victory over Vitoria de Setubal, and has gradually become more involved since.
According to the Daily Star, The young Lion has been attracting the intentions of both Scottish Champions Celtic and Manchester United over the past few months. The Red Devils certainly have reason to be interested in the player, having achieved success with the signings of former Sporting wingers Cristiano Ronaldo and to a lesser extent Nani.
Whilst talks of a potential Cristiano Ronaldo mark II is premature to say the least, the youngster certainly had a full debut for Sporting to rival the recent Ballon d’Or winner. Selected for Sporting Lisbon’s league cup match at home to fellow league side Martimo, Carlos Mane took just 18 minutes to light up the Estadio Jose Alvalade, scoring a peach of a goal as Sporting went on to comfortably progress to the next round, winning 3-0.
