Alberto Moreno, 21, has been linked to a host of clubs such as Liverpool, Napoli, Manchester United and Real Madrid following a highly successful full debut season at Sevilla.
The youngster came through the Sevilla youth ranks before spending his first season as a senior with the reserves in the Spanish 3rd division. Moreno then made his first team debut in 2012 in the 1-0 away loss at Athletic Bilbao, coming off the bench in the final stages.
Despite not being a regular last season, Moreno managed to get some valuable experience under his belt before signing a long-term contract which runs out in 2018. The 21-year-old’s rapid growth was noteworthy, holding down a first team spot at Sevilla to winning a Spanish national cap for the World Champions within a matter of months.
Spanish website insidespanishfootball suggested only a few days ago that Rafa Benitez’s Napoli were willing to make a concrete offer for the fullback, with the former Liverpool manager advising his sports director to make an offer of €18m, despite the Spanish international having an informed release clause of €30m
However, according to new Spanish reports, a television program called “quédate a mi lado” have claimed that Real Madrid and Sevilla have a €21m agreement for the Sevilla star, and that he will be playing for Los Blancos at the start of next season.
The news of this apparent deal will go down well in Manchester, as David Moyes has been reported to have a strong interest in another Real Madrid fullback, the out-of-favour Fabio Coentrao
According to the English press, a deal seems very close, with the Portuguese defender admitting he wants to leave. Yet, Real Madrid allegedly want €20m for the fullback, a figure that seems very close to the reported €21m for Alberto Moreno.
Although Real Madrid may still yet wait for a money offer, should their future signing of Alberto Moreno be true, then they would have no reason to keep an unhappy Fabio Coentrao in their ranks and perhaps a figure much lower than the €20m spoke about could be agreed - although if Moreno does not arrive until the summer, Coentrao to United may have to wait until then too.
