Real Madrid send messengers to negotiate with €15m Man Utd target?

Brazilian international Dede is being watched by a host of top European clubs, with Real Madrid developing their own interest.

According to Spanish reports, La Liga giants Real Madrid have stepped up their interest in Cruzeiro central defender Dede.

The 25-year-old defender has been in fabulous form for his side as Cruzeiro were crowned Brazilian champions. His performances alongside another European transfer target Everton Ribeiro caught the attentions of top clubs around Europe.

Dede seemed to ignore the intentions at first, concentrating on his football, yet the defender recently decided to express his happiness at being linked with a move to Europe:

“This (speculation) is good too, especially for the valuation of me, the player.

"I came to Cruzeiro and thanked them even more. They give me strength, great moral support and I thank them for allowing me a stage to continue growing, which is what I really needed.

"Today the great teams of Europe are speculated to be linked with my name; this gives me a lot of confidence and makes me very happy. It helps me a lot.

One of those clubs has been rumoured to be Manchester United. The Red Devils are in the midst of a struggling campaign, currently sitting in 7th place in the Premier League – five points behind the Champions League places and a huge 11 points off league leaders Arsenal.

David Moyes has a huge wish list, and one of his main priorities is a new centre back as Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are unlikely to still be at the club for the start of next season.

However, if their interest in Cruzeiro defender Dede is serious, they ought to start making a move as the same Spanish press have reported that Real Madrid have sent messengers to start contract negotiations with the defender.

Los Blancos are on the lookout for a new defender to deputise at the back for next year’s campaign, and Carlo Ancelotti’s side have identified Dede as ‘the best defender in Brazil’. Reports say that Madrid are willing to pay the reported €15m transfer fee, an amount which would guarantee Cruzeiro a tidy profit on their €6m investment.
