Manchester City latest: £22m man back ‘next week’; defender linked with Russia move

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City welcome Blackburn Rovers to the Etihad Stadium this evening for the replay of their FA Cup third-round contest.

The first game ended 1-1 and City have a welcome boost with the return of Sergio Aguero to full-training and potential first-team action.

Rovers boss Gary Bowyer is looking forward to the match – despite few ending a game at the Etihad with anything less than a battering.

Speaking to the BBC, Bowyer said, “No one outside of our dressing room gives us a prayer and they are situations we quite like.”

If the Championship side do something spectacular this evening, it would be up there with the shocks of the season.

In transfer news, the Mirror reports that Aleksandar Kolarov could be on his way to Russia, with Zenit St Petersburg linked with the defender.

The Serbian international has been tipped for the Etihad exit a lot in recent months, but only time will tell how much truth is in the latest report.

One player who has temporarily left the Blues is John Guidetti, who will spend the second half of the season on loan at Stoke City. And their assistant boss Mark Bowen thinks the deal is ideal for all parties.

Speaking to Stoke’s official website, Bowen said, “There is no doubting the talent he has, and we are hoping that he can come in here and recapture the same form that he showed during his time in Holland.”

And finally, summer signing Stevan Jovetic could soon return to first-team action according to Manuel Pellegrini.

Sky Sports reports that the Chilean has revealed both Jovetic and Jack Rodwell should be fit for action next week.
