The former Chelsea striker believes his former Serbia teammate Nemanja Vidic will stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future despite rumours.
Ex-Chelsea marksman Mateja Kezman has refuted claims Nemanja Vidic is unsettled at Manchester United and believes his former colleague in the Serbian national team setup will pen fresh terms at the club.
There have been widespread rumours about the United stalwart's future after a mixed campaign for Vidic personally and the team, as they continue to endure a torrid transition period under new manager David Moyes.
Vidic's agent has also spoken out about the possibility of his client securing a January transfer, with his contract up at the end of the season and a host of suitors interested in prising him away from Old Trafford.
Kezman, however, does not envisage the 32-year-old leaving the Red Devils for the likes of Galatasaray or Serie A duo Napoli and AC Milan and is convinced he will soon sign on the dotted line.
“Nemanja Vidic is top and player and big friend of mine,” he told talkSPORT. “I spoke to him a few months ago and he said then that he was waiting to see what will happen with his contract.
“I would give him a new contract. It’s true he’s not the player he was a few years ago, he’s a bit injury-prone, but he’s still a leader. Man United need him in the dressing room, around the young players."
Kezman also denied the centre-back was desperate to leave the club.
“He’s not unhappy. He’s been there for years and would like to stay for another season. He loves the club, the city, the fans, everybody.
“I’m sure he will do his best to stay at United if they offer him a contract.”
