Nicky Maynard is having a medical at Wigan ahead of a proposed move to the Championship side.
Rosler revealed that the former West Ham United striker will have a medical with the club, and said that he has something to prove. "He is coming off the back of a bad injury. He's been fit now for a while [and] is ready to go. He looks sharp and I think he has a point to prove for himself in his career and he has a point to prove to people."
The medical might be the only sticking point in the transfer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to let the striker leave after not selecting him in his first two games in charge.
Nicky Maynard joined Cardiff from West Ham in August 2012 and was set to be handed a key role in their promotion challenge. Whilst The Bluebirds did achieve promotion, Maynard didn't play the part he had hoped for after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee that kept him out for the season after just three games for the club.
Maynard has of course found the net many times before in the Championship and League One. Whilst at Crewe he scored 32 in 59 appearances before a move to Bristol City where he carried on his exploits.
A further 45 goals were scored in 124 league games and was signed by Sam Allardyce for West Ham in January 2012. However he didn't feature regularly there and moved on to Cardiff.
Rosler is looking to add firepower to his Wigan side after allowing Grant Holt to leave on loan and join Aston Villa. Nouha Dicko has also left the club, he has joined League One side Wolverhampton Wanderers on a permanent deal.
Wigan have so far relied heavily on Manchester United loanee Nicky Powell, for goals. He scored his ninth and tenth of the season in their FA Cup victory over Milton Keynes Dons on Tuesday night.
Powell has scored five in the league whilst there are three other players on three goals. Rosler will be hoping Maynard can fire The Latics up the table.
