Reports this morning claim Nemanja Matic will undergo a medical ahead of a proposed return to Chelsea.
Newspaper stories at the weekend claimed personal terms had been agreed, and while there are contrasting reports as to the final fee – with some media outlets suggesting the Blues will have to add players to their €25million offer – it seems the 26-year-old is nearing a return to Stamford Bridge, this time as one of the best in his position in the world.
At least that is the claim of former Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman, who has been speaking to Talk Sport about the midfielder.
“He’s a completely different player to the one who left Chelsea a couple of years ago,” Kezman said.
“He’s one of the best players in the world in that position.”
And in regards to the reported fee, Kezman added, “Chelsea are getting a lot (for their money), and I’m really excited to see how he settles into the team.”
Given the midfielders already at Jose Mourinho’s disposal, the addition of Matic would potentially make Chelsea every bit as strong in the centre of the park as Manchester City, and could give the London side a huge boost as they attempt to clinch silverware in the first season of Mourinho’s second spell in charge.
If Kezman is to be believed, they are on the verge of getting one of the very best, and for that reason alone Blues fans should be extremely excited for the months and years ahead.
Now as for that new striker…
