Jenny Leigh takes a look at where Manchester and Arsenal fans are that little bit over-eager for transfer news...
They don’t call it ‘silly season’ without reason but there are some who get a little bit carried away with all the excitement of the January transfer window.
1) Marco Reus/Juan Mata to Manchester United
This particular Manchester United fan perhaps believes the deals conducted on games consoles are in anyway realistic in the real world where millions and millions of pounds or euros are at stake and players can make or break their careers on a single signature.
It’s clear the Premier League champions could use at least a little extra fire in their line-up but both Juan Mata and Marco Reus – neither of whom will be easily lured away from Premier League rivals Chelsea or German title fighters Borussia Dortmund to Old Trafford. This fan might not want to hold their breath whilst they wait.
2) Cesc Fabregas to Manchester United
Manchester United need to sign Marco Reus, and Luka Moric, fabregas players like then— Kyle Scott (@kylescott_07) January 7, 2014
Likewise, this deal is never going to happen – David Moyes had a dream this summer, a dream that former Arsenal captain and Spain star Fabregas could be tempted to signing for the Red Devils and then after a brief period of optimism he quickly woke to what is now steadfastly becoming a nightmare debut season.
3) Luis Suarez to Arsenal
Another failed summer attraction was the subject of the £40,000,001 saga, Liverpool striker Luis Suarez – there is absolutely no way the Merseyside giants are going to sell the Premier League’s top scorer when they are fighting for Champions League football and perhaps even a title, and they are certainly not going to sell him to their direct rivals the Gunners. Not even for £40,000,002.
4) Robin van Persie to Barcelona
Dang Barcelona might be getting David Luis & Robin Van Persie. Chelsea might be getting Ballotelli & Alex Song and selling Torres and Eto'o— Stanton Smith (@SS_JU_1744) January 8, 2014
The (currently injured) Dutch striker and the Premier League’s Golden Boot winner for the last two seasons in a row only arrived at Old Trafford 18 months ago and there is, even under the current circumstances, absolutely no chance, no matter whether the player is happy or otherwise, that David Moyes would let Van Persie go anywhere with United in the shape they are in at present. There is more chance of me signing for Barcelona than there is of the Catalans getting the Dutch ace.
5) Wayne Rooney to Arsenal

Likewise, there is more chance of Kim Kardashian signing on loan for Crystal Palace as a goalkeeper than there is of Manchester United selling their best player by a country mile so far this term to the current league leaders.
