Leeds United join Celtic in the race for prolific Scotland international

Molineux - Wolves - Billy Wright Stand

Leeds United and Wigan Athletic are set to join Celtic in the the race for prolific Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Leigh Griffiths.

Sky Sports have reported that Leeds United, along with Wigan Athletic are set to rival Scottish champions Celtic in the battle for highly-rated striker Leigh Griffiths.

Leigh Griffiths, 23, has been in fantastic form this season and is currently the top scorer at the Molineux with 12 goals in 18 starts.

Up until this season it looked like the player made a mistake joining Wolves in 2011, as he had to wait two and a half years for a competitive league debut at the club.

Last season was a horrible time to be a Wolverhampton Wanderers fan and player, after a poor year ensured they succumb to back-to-back relegations. Despite that, it was definitely a year for Leigh Griffiths to be proud of after netting an incredible 28 goals in 42 games, whilst on loan at Hibernian.

The form shown north of the border earned the player a call-up to Scotland's first team and upon returning to the West Midlands has become an integral player for the side.

Leeds, Wigan and Celtic have all expressed desire to improve their front line this January and with a number of targets already signed to other clubs, it could be become a likely transfer tug-of-war over the Scotland International.
