Arsenal super fan and TV anchor Piers Morgan was his usual active self on Twitter last night and he reiterated his call for Arsene Wenger to sign another world class striker.
Olivier Giroud did a fine job leading the Arsenal attack as he produced a slick finish which secured the side’s winner in a tense 2-1 victory at Aston Villa which saw the Gunners move back to the top of the Premier League.
The attack is one of the only areas of the current Arsenal side which could use an extra signing, especially with Theo Walcott ruled out for the rest of the season with injury.
Morgan has been very clear that he’d love to see the club go out and sign a top quality player like Liverpool’s Luis Suarez although that would be extremely unlikely at this stage of the season and after the Uruguayan signed a new deal at Anfield.
It’s difficult for Arsene Wenger because the need for another striker is something he’s aware of but it’s difficult to do big deals for world class stars in January because sides are reluctant to let good players go halfway through a season.
Arsenal certainly have the resources to buy a striker and adhere to Morgan’s plea but they’re unlikely to get their hands on a heavyweight until the summer.
