Napoli closing in on Spurs man

Napoli are busy in the transfer market and could complete deals for both Jorginho and Tottenham midfielder Etienne Capoue.

In a bid to re-launch their Scudetto challenge, Napoli are ready to break the bank in the January transfer window and the Partneopei are said to be closing in on two signings.

Rafa Benitez's side are reportedly now leading the race to snap up highly-rated Verona star Jorginho, who is also a target for Liverpool, Chelsea and Fiorentina amongst others.

The Azzurri are said to have taken advantage of their away trip to Verona's Stadio Bentegodi to discuss business and have nearly agreed a deal.

And respected transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio insists that Napoli won't stop at Jorginho but will add another new face to the squad.

Napoli have been repeatedly linked to Tottenham midfielder Capoue who only arrived at White Hart Lane last summer but has struggled to make an impact.

The French international suffered an ankle injury at the start of his Spurs career and was then called in as a centre-back, rather than his natural midfield position, where he failed to impress.

Since then, Capoue has been kept out of the side by a mixture of Christian Eriksen and manager Tim Sherwood seems to prefer Nabil Bentaleb.

Many feel that Capoue's days in North London are already numbered and Di Marzio believes that he has already decided to relocate to Napoli.

Di Marzio told Sky Italia's Calciomercato programme that Spurs have asked for around £10.8m but that Napoli are offering just under £7.5m plus performance-related bonuses.

The transfer guru insists that the signatures of Jorginho and Capoue aren't mutually exclusive and that Benitez would be happy to welcome both into his squad.
