Manchester City latest: Aguero boost and Blues striker on the move

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City have sent John Guidetti on loan to Stoke City for the second half of the season.

Injury set-backs and competition for places at the Etihad Stadium mean the Swedish striker’s opportunities have been limited.

But now Guidetti has the chance to prove himself under the guidance of former City boss Mark Hughes.

This could be the making of the 21-year-old, who still has years ahead of him to forge a successful career in England. He has the talent, now he just needs the luck.

In other news, the Guardian reports that referee Mike Jones will not take charge of a match this weekend. This follows his decision to rule out Cheick Tiote’s goal against the Blues for offside and his decision not to send off Newcastle's Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa for a foul on Samir Nasri that left the latter facing eight weeks on the side-lines.

And finally, Manuel Pellegrini is set for a boost with Sky Sports reporting that Sergio Aguero is fit to return for tomorrow’s FA Cup third-round replay against Blackburn Rovers.

Now it is up to Pellegrini to decide if it is worth risking him.

Speaking prior to the match, the Chilean said, “Sergio is working with normality with the whole squad and he is on Wednesday’s squad list.

He is a very important player for us. It doesn’t matter if we are scoring a lot of goals, Sergio will always be a very important player and we are happy he is coming back.”
