Having wowed Serie A crowds at Verona this term, Italian-Brazilian playmaker Jorginho is on the radar of a number of clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea, but Napoli are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for him.
The Azzurri are said to have agreed provisional terms with both the player and club and could complete a deal within the next week.
Il Mattino reports that Napoli are ready to give Verona £8.3m, with a payment of £6.2m upfront and a further £2.1m to follow dependent on performances.
The contract is said to be a five-year deal starting at £664,000 per season and rising to just under £1.1m with gradual increases each year.
Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Jorginho in the past and are known to be admirers of Jorginho.
Il Mattino claims that the Premier League side view the 22-year-old as back-up for Steven Gerrard and a possible long-term replacement for the Anfield legend.
While Liverpool are behind in the race to land Jorginho, Il Mattino reports that they still have a chance if they move quickly enough.
