Anderson may make Fiorentina debut this weekend

Anderson

Manchester United midfielder Anderson could make his Fiorentina debut this weekend against Catania, according to Italian reports.

Fiorentina are set to close out a loan deal for Manchester United man Anderson and he could be whisked straight into action this weekend.

The Viola are keen to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season and they have been in talks with United over Anderson, who is deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old is expected to arrive on loan with the option to make the deal permanent in the summer in exchange for £4.5m.

La Gazzetta dello Sport believes that the deal is done and that Anderson will complete a medical in Florence before Thursday.

If that goes well, then the paper reports that Vincenzo Montella could include his new signing in the squad to travel to Catania for this Sunday's Serie A clash at the Stadio Massimino.

As well as Anderson, Fiorentina may have another new boy in AC Milan striker Alessandro Matri, who is on the verge of agreeing a switch.

Matri enjoyed a spell in the spotlight with Juventus and attracted interest from Arsenal but he has been almost invisible since his switch to Milan.

Fiorentina will hope that the 29-year-old can recapture his old scoring form and prove an adequate replacement for 14-goal marksman Giuseppe Rossi, who faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a serious knee injury.
