Andros Townsend made a return from a hamstring problem as Tottenham's under-21s took on Newcastle United.
Townsend had been suffering from a hamstring problem, which he picked up before Christmas but he started and played superbly for the Tottenham youth side as they ran out comfortable winners. The midfielder was involved the first three Tottenham goals, providing an assist to Souleymane Coulibaly for the first, scoring the second and crossing for an eventual rebound to be scored for the third.
Townsend was then taken off at half-time for Aaron McEneff with the Tottenham youth team coaches eager to protect one of the most important members of the first team squad. It’s unclear at the moment whether Townsend will be fit enough to feature against Swansea City this weekend but he could take part in the next under-21 Premier League game against Stoke City this Friday.
