According to German reports, Anders Lindegaard is high on the list of potential replacements for youngster Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
Lindegaard, 29, joined Manchester United in 2010 for a fee of approximately £3.5m. The Danish international joined the club as former manager Sir Alex Ferguson was looking for a deputy to former goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Saar.
Lindegaard made his debut during Manchester United’s 4th round FA Cup victory over Southampton towards the end of January in 2011. He then went on to make his Old Trafford debut in the next round of the cup, a home tie against conference side Crawley.
Since signing for the Red Devils, appearances have been sporadic and the Dane has only featured 18 times for the Old Trafford side although he did manage to collect a Premier League medal last season for making the 10-game cut-off point.
This season, however, the 29-year-old has yet to make a Premier League appearance under new boss David Moyes and the goalkeeper was quoted by the English press in a recent interview that despite living life in Manchester, he might need to look at his options due to his lack of game-time.
"It is a very weird position to be in. It is new stuff. For me personally in this situation, I have to try and be objective, not subjective. It would be easy to get frustrated at not playing"
"I have to try and rise above myself and see it from the club's perspective and see how much pressure we have been under as a club. I would obviously like to think that in periods where we are winning all the games, there would be more game time for me"
"For me it is all about being a happy human being. I am that now at Manchester United. I am happy to be part of this big club".
With Barcelona looking almost certain to sign current Borussia Monchengladbach Ter Stegen as a replacement for the out-going Victor Valdes, the German side will need an experienced pro to help push the club forwards.
Despite not making many starts for Manchester United, Lindegaard does have Champions League games under his belt and it is that sort of experience that Moenchengladbach will be looking for.
Currently 3rd placed in the Bundesliga, Gladbach have every chance of making the top four and a Champions League spot will certainly appeal to the Manchester United back-up.
