Mancini’s Galatasary make €34m Man United and Arsenal target top priority

Real Madrid star Angel Di Maria has been made a top January transfer target for ex-Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini’s Galatasary.

According to Spanish reports, there are more developments regarding a possible transfer offer for Real Madrid’s flying winger Angel Di Maria.

The news will probably come as a surprise to some, the Argentine’s future in the Spanish capital is under serious threat as the player has been involved in a petty war with a section of the Real Madrid fans over the past couple of weeks.

The Spanish source also claims that Di Maria has asked to leave Real Madrid, and an offer from the Turkish giants Galatasary would appeal to the player.

Roberto Mancini’s Galatasary is littered with familiar faces these days, such as ex-Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, Brazilian Felipe Melo and former Manchester United target Wesley Sneijder. Galatasary currently lie 2nd in the Tukish Super League, eight points behind big rivals Fenerbache and Mancini’s mean have a Champions League second phase tie against Chelsea lined-up.

The Turkish side are certainly growing in stature and are now regarded as a heavyweight in Europe due to their financial muscle and successively qualifying for the Champions League second phase. Yet, signing Real Madrid star Di Maria would push them onto the next level, and they’d start to represent a side that others in European competitions would want to avoid, even though he would be cup-tied for the second phase of the Champions League.

Despite Di Maria being targeted by some fans, the Argentine reportedly told the press that he was happy at Real Madrid, and his recent gesture had nothing to do with the fans and instead the Spanish press are perhaps forcing him out.

“Maybe the press in Spain do not like me because I do not give interviews,”

“They want to put me against the fans and the club. They are always waiting for me to do something so they can kill me. I love playing, helping the team, and not talking with the press. I am happy here. I have the support of my teammates and of the coach [Carlo] Ancelotti.”

Should Galatasary have the money available, then perhaps the signing of Di Maria in January would put the apparent doubts of coach Roberto Mancini to bed and give the Turks a chance of catching Fenerbache in the title-race.

On the other hand, with Arsenal and Manchester United interested in the player, one would only assume that Di Maria in Turkey would be a complete waste of his talents and he’d be far more pushed in a more competitive league such as the Premier League.
