Jorginho is one of Serie A's in-demand players and has been hotly tipped to relocate to the Premier League, but there are reports that Napoli have pounced for his signature.
The 22-year-old has lit up Serie A for Verona this season and has been a major part of the newly promoted team's unexpectedly good form.
Liverpool and Chelsea have reportedly both sent scouts to watch the Italian-Brazilian and the player's agent has stressed that he will be allowed to leave if the right offer is tabled.
There were suggestions that Russian outfit Zenit Saint Petersburg were also tracking Jorginho and that Fiorentina had prepared a bid, but now it seems that Napoli may have won the race.
Il Mattino believes that the Partenopei have all the details in place for the transfer and are just waiting to get the necessary signatures to complete the deal.
The reported fee is £6.2m in cash up front followed by an additional £2m to be added on in performance-related payments.
The player would receive a five-year contract that would see him earn around £660,000 annually.
As yet there is no official confirmation of a deal but Liverpool and Chelsea will have been given a jolt if they intend to land the rising star.
