Arsenal opponents Bayern suffer another injury concern - Should they be worried?

David Alaba suffered an impact injury to his knee while training with Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich have suffered another piece of injury news in less than a week.

Images last week showed Bastian Schweinsteiger struggling with a knee problem and now full back David Alaba has suffered a similar injury although less serious.

Sport Bild has run a story today which shows the 21-year-old on the ground in agony following a training session with Bayern Munich as their training camp in Doha comes to an end.

The player was immediately surrounded by several key Bayern individuals including coach Pep Guardiola, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and defender Jerome Boateng.

The report in Sport Bild suggests that the problem is an impact injury, heavy bruising and nothing more.

“The 21-year-old suffered a painful bruise on the impact of the joint – Alaba could possibly even be used on this Monday’s friendly against Kuwait Sporting Club,” reads the Sport Bild report.

The danger as far as boss Guardiola is concerned that if Alaba plays in that friendly today before he’s ready, the problem could get a whole lot worse very quickly.

Considering Alaba is rated as one of the best full backs in Europe and the magnitude of matches Bayern have coming up (such as Arsenal in the Champions League next month) the value in risking him for a friendly is minimal.

The same report goes onto reveal that the Austrian responded well to initial treatment but Schweinsteiger didn’t train in the final session as he battles against his own knee problem.
