It wasn't so long ago Manchester United were being linked with a bid for Falcao, and there's a least one player at Old Trafford who may be wistfully thinking 'what if'?
While Cristiano Ronaldo emerged victorious from FIFA's Ballon d'Or ceremony, the player who last season wore his famous shirt at Manchester United failed to vote him #1.
Ecuadorian captain Antonio Valencia picked Ronaldo in second place, Lionel Messi third - and voted for Radamel Falcao as number one.
No such bad blood between the Ecuadorian and the Colombian seemly, and winger Valencia might well wish the prolific Monaco striker was on the end of his crosses at Old Trafford.
He was not the only United player to 'snub' Cristiano Ronaldo in the voting.
Dutch captain Robin van Persie voted a 1-2-3 of Arjen Robben, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristiano Ronaldo in third.
Van Persie himself received four votes for the number one spot. They were received from the captain of Kyrgyzstan, Turks and Caicos Islands, and the coaches of both Hong Kong and Thailand.
