A round-up of all the latest news regarding Liverpool.
Liverpool gained a valuable three points at Stoke City on Sunday afternoon with a 5-3 win. While Brendan Rodgers will not have been happy conceding three goals, he will surely be delighted at the return of the partnership of Suarez and Sturridge or 'SAS' as it is known.
Suarez scored two goals, whilst Sturridge scored one as his comeback from injury continues. Their link-up play was a joy to watch and Liverpool owner John Henry has claimed that Luis Suarez is " the most exciting soccer player on the planet." He went on to compare the Liverpool talisman to Boston Baseball star David Ortiz.
John Henry also praised the city of Liverpool, saying it is a "tough, intelligent, and creative city". He drew comparisons with the rivalry of Liverpool and Manchester United with that of the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. These are clearly happy times for the Liverpool owner.
Club captain Steven Gerrard was employed in a deep midfield role for the win over Stoke City yesterday, and Rodgers praised his display. In his post match interview he said "He gives us great variety in his passing. We saw today he picked it up from deep and stretched the game with his vision and quality."
When asked whether he might play 'Stevie' in that role again he said "It is something I will look at. He's someone who fits the profile of that role. He does it a bit more with England."
He is the current captain of the side, but with PSV currently in seventh position in the league he could be tempted to move on. He has had his injury problems this season but according to The Metro Liverpool could be set to make a £9million bid for the Dutchman. Wijnaldum reportedly rejected a move to Arsenal in the summer, but a move to Liverpool could improve his international prospects ahead of the World Cup.
The Express have reported that Liverpool could be going head to head for Real Betis winger Alvaro Vadillo.
The highly-rated youngster was linked with Spurs in the summer as a replacement for Gareth Bale, but a move never materialised. Vadillo is said to have a £17 million release-clause in his contract.
